Overview

We seek a highly qualified and experienced Manager, Investor Relations, to join a collaborative and purposeful team.

 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with investors, shareholders and the financial community.  The Manager, Investor Relations, will understand financial markets and will have strong communications skills and a proven history working as part of an IR team.  They will work to enhance the company’s reputation and it clients’ and credibility among investors, analysts and the investment community.  They will operate with an organized, initiative-taking, strategic and consistent approach.  This position reports to the Senior Director, Investor Relations, and works closely with senior and executive management throughout The RMR Group (Nasdaq: RMR) to drive success.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for the investment community for one or more RMR client companies and manage all investor communications, including earnings calls, investor presentations and investor meetings.  
  • Work with full IR team to foster strong relationships with existing and potential investors and sell-side analysts by providing them with accurate, timely, and relevant information about the company's and clients’ performance, financial results and strategic initiatives that best position them to achieve fair valuation.  Actively lead meetings with these parties both with and without management in attendance.
  • Drive the quarterly earnings preparation process, including script drafting and Q&A development for the applicable company or companies.  Leverage internal and external resources to compile data efficiently and accurately, and to produce highly advanced drafts.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director, Investor Relations and senior management to develop financial messaging and ensure consistent and accurate communication of the company's financial results and growth prospects to the investment community in the form of clear and thoughtful press releases, investor presentations, conference call scripts and website content.
  • Produce communications that convey strategic direction and business plans and build confidence in management and the company strategy.  Ensure that key messages are researched, documented and communicated to all necessary personnel. 
  • Monitor and analyze industry and market trends, as well as industry peers, to provide insightful recommendations and guidance to the management team on investor sentiment and market positioning.  Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of company markets, market drivers, supply/demand trends, peer business performance and financial expectations.  Utilize existing analytical tools and/or create new tools/analyses to support company’s investment thesis.
  • Serve as a source of competitive and market intelligence for the management team and Board(s).  This includes keeping the pulse of industry and peer news and trends, as well as understanding the impact that these and other macroeconomic factors have on the company’s business and competitive position.  Maintain financial analyses on key competitors and cultivate a thorough and detailed understanding of consensus earnings estimates, including all sell-side analyst models.
  • Proactively identify and engage with potential new investors and analysts to increase visibility and attract investment interest. Leverage IR team and department resources to identify and proactively target highest potential investors conducive to the  strategy, defining business characteristics and appeal to investment styles.  Consistently and on an ongoing basis, prepare the management team for interactions with the investment community.
  • Proactively manage investor relations agenda and calendar, including quarterly results announcements, investor meetings and conference participation.  Maintain investor and meeting databases and related reporting.  Summarize investor meeting themes and distribute to management.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Investor Relations, the greater RMR IR and Marketing teams and external business partners to optimize communications and coordinate communication plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in investor relations, finance, or related roles with a public company.  Experience with a publicly traded real estate or asset management company is a plus.
  • Highly organized with meticulous diligence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information and the company’s value proposition concisely and with impact. 
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, analytical skills and financial aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently; must be initiative-taking but should also be able to work effortlessly as part of a collaborative team.
  • Highly professional presence with the ability to remain composed, think clearly under pressure and answer detailed questions.
  • Strategic thinking and a willingness to freely share their opinions with the Senior Director, Investor Relations and the management team.
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to travel as needed to investor conferences and on marketing trips.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; Nasdaq IR Connect, FactSet, Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters tools are a plus.
