Overview

The Senior Risk Manager assumes broad responsibilities, overseeing the Residential division's comprehensive insurance and risk management programs, communicating with legal teams, and assessing and identifying risks that could impede the organization's reputation, safety, or security. 

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Residential Operational Leadership Team to provide risk management analysis and integration into all facets of business operations. 

  • Provide case management, claims monitoring, communication, research and coordination with internal and external parties, including reporting and memorandums to General Counsel, briefings with assigned external counsel and internal operations teams. 

  • Assist in preparation and review of legal documents. 

  • Communicate with clients and adjusters. 

  • Coordinate implementation of risk management practices to reduce loss exposure. 

  • Oversee and assist in the life cycle of insurance programs and policies to create streamlined insurance schedules, policy coordination, and coverage analysis. 

  • Assist with insurance budgeting and forecasting. 

  • Communicate insurance coverages and coordinate timely resolution of risk matters across internal teams. 

  • Work with external partners in the communication and implementation of their insurance programs. 

  • Updating, organizing and maintaining Insurance Claims and Lawsuit Logs on a regular basis. 

  • Following up on internal incident reports for additional information when warranted and/or requested. 

  • Distributing quarterly reports from the maintenance platforms on a regular basis. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an emphasis on a risk management specialty. 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience. 

  • Paralegal experience preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of policies and best practices of risk management, ability to educate and influence to business partners.  

  • Strong organizational project management skills. 

  • Ability to think independently and critically, analyze and solve problems, and successfully implement solutions. 

  • Ability to navigate interdepartmental relationships, collaborating with regional operations and corporate functions.  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative and results driven environment. 

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with high proficiency in written and verbal communication. 

  • Experience in insurance claims management direct to carrier/Broker a plus. 

  • Experience with multi-unit operation business required.

  • Experience in insurance claims management direct to carrier/Broker.

  • Multi-family CRE or similar background
